Matching Quiz

Matching Quiz is one of the study activities on the My Vocab page. It builds from any vocabulary list a student or teacher has made, and asks the student to match each word to its definition. It sits alongside Flash Cards and Sentence Star as a different way to practice the same words.

• Recall practice is what moves a word from recognized to known; a list on its own rarely does it
• Low-stakes and quick, so it works as a warm-up or a plenary rather than a lesson of its own
• Uses the words a student collected themselves while reading, so practice stays connected to their work
• Gives a different route to the same vocabulary for students who do not get on with flash cards
